ATC’s Revisited

artist trading cards
While going through some boxes, I discovered a stash of ATC’s (Artist Trading Cards). I’d forgotten how much fun it was to come up with a design based on the monthly challenge theme. There was great excitement when our group traded the cards and we would open these little treasures to see what everyone came up with. It’s a great way to use your supplies, meet new crafters, and stretch your imagination. If you haven’t done them in awhile, or have never done them at all, go online to find a group and give them a try!

Old World Charm

Old World Charm Card

The look of an old world tile can be made with some stamps, ink and paper. Inspired by a friend and their love of Italy. Love of food, family and fond memories. Things to be cherished in the everyday.

Mistakes

Mistakes in your hand crafted pieces

Often what we think of as mistakes can really be usable when we look at them differently. In taking pieces of a scene, a stamped image or drawing and putting them into blocked tiles can give a whole new look. These are coated with 3 layers of clear Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel to give the look of an actual tile (can be seen much better in person) Try it with random pieces of your “mistakes”.

Acetate Background Technique

card

This card has a patterned, watercolor type background which I created on a sheet of clear acetate and Sharpie markers.. It’s easier than you think and can be done with simple tools in almost any color. Different color combinations can alter the entire feel.
I am working on a Youtube video to show you just how to accomplish this look. The Video shows a different card than the sample displayed. Giving you an idea of how versatile this technique can be.
Enjoy your day,

25 years and counting…..

Beaded 25th anniversary card

As I look back on the 25 years my husband and I have spent together, I can’t help but think how truly blessed we have been. My brother Eddie took this photo of us as we were rushing back to the car as it began raining. That is where our journey began.
Today I am very grateful and look forward to the road ahead as we walk it together.
(photo on this card has been covered with clear micro beads)

Fall is here

fall leaf card
Fall is here whether we like it or not. Instead of getting depressed at the thought of the upcoming Holiday madness or the blistery snow. I chose to celebrate by making this card.

All the best,

It’s a New Day

Stamped Scene Sunrise Card

Here is a card I made using Stampscapes stamps. The card was made for my brother-in-law Philip, who just have quadruple bypass surgery and has a new lease on life. The doctors are amazed at his recovery! “you can’t keep a good Irishman down!”

The language of text messaging

Text Message card design

I’m not big on text messaging but it’s funny how our vocabulary is reduced to the point where you can communicate a whole sentence in just a few letters , BRB (Be right back) JK (Just kidding) IDTS (I don’t think so) OMG (Oh my God!) So I thought it would be fun to use my monogram stamper from Justrite Stampers to create a sentiment using some texting shortcuts.
Have a nice week (despite the fact that Mr Groundhog is giving us 6 more weeks of Winter!!)
